Anna Klüssendorf
One of Anna Klüssendorf’s central topics is the human image: human beings in their banal everyday life and as heroic beings are the starting point for her painting. What interests her is, however, neither individuals nor stereotypes, but rather human beings with their nuances, their ambivalence, their strengths and weaknesses, successes and failures. The artist works not conceptually, but instead directly and spontaneously; in her paintings, nothing is conclusively formulated, everything seems to be provisional, a mixture of the adopted and the truly experienced. Her painting presents a refreshing contrast to the intellectual calculation that is common on the international art scene and moves in an intermediate area between mimetic reproduction and her own creations.
This book provides an overview of works from the last few years.
