Jürgen Heinrich

Im Labyrinth

With his artistic works of the past some twenty years, Jürgen Heinrich (*1962) poses the existential question of the extent to which we are developing in the direction of a smoothed-out, sterile world beyond all human weaknesses. In his works, he counters this world with traces, structures, rhythms, and meanderings that invite interpreting his pictures and put the viewer in the role of a modern archeologist. The book presents the results of his artistic examination in abstract drawings, collages, objects, and a unique book: Im Labyrinth (In the Labyrinth). Central to the book is a cycle of four shows of his work in 2015, which are discussed in an inspiring way in texts by eight authors. The book thus brings together Heinrich’s four thematic complexes to create a superordinate concept and simultaneously links them with one another in a stimulating dialogue. For Heinrich, the focus of each work is not on the things and essences themselves or their depiction, but rather on the relationships between them.
