Maria Tackmann’s (*1982) installations are compositions of diverse found objects, whose arrangement in space resembles an excavation site for day-to-day life. The arrangements astonish as a result of the narrative that develops between the objects and their graphic-seeming aesthetics. Random characteristics such as traces of use or signs of age here look like deliberate interventions in the found material and are skillfully put in relation to one another. Inspired by the idea of an archive, the publication also presents Tackmann’s works on paper, which are also distinguished by a keen sense for the combination of happenstance and targeted processing of the material.
