Wolfgang Stehle

Tagundnachtgleiche

The works of the artist Wolfgang Stehle (*1965) deal with strategies of empowerment in the field of conflict between nature and civilization. Architectural forms made of wood exhibit puzzling, nature-based traces of dissolution. Supposed hunting trophies develop an abstract, geometrical life of their own. Ritual hunting scenes are juxtaposed in animated videos with technically distanced killing. The book presents the two-way relationship between opposites on a somber, but simultaneously vital specimen. At the same time, it is a documentation of the two-part exhibition at the Kunstverein Ingolstadt and the International Künstlerhaus Villa Concordia in Bamberg.
