Bettina van Haaren
Stone Carving, Drawings 2015–2017
Bettina van Haaren (*1961) describes her actions as extreme tension, as a tentative palpitating of the things spread out before her, as a presentation of searching and doubt, as a cautious approach, as cancelling out again and again as well, and as a physical action with astonishment at what the hand can do. Via pars-pro-toto particles, the world appears in its banality, in nature, in cultural commodities, in social, political, historical dimensions, and in its own material disposition. The book presents nearly 80 drawings from the past three years that were created exclusively during trips, for instance to Rome, Naples, Madrid, Toledo, Turin, Marseille, Leipzig, Deia, or Imperia.
