Wo bitte geht’s zum Öffentlichen? Show me the way to public sphere!
Wiesbaden Art Summer 2006
“Show me the way to public sphere.” With this request, the curator, Dr. Martin Henatsch, touched upon an important issue within the discussion of art in the public sphere. What does “public” mean today? What meaning does it have for urban life at the beginning of the 21st century? How is this public sphere created? Who creates it? Can artists “make accessible”, “unlock”, and “open up” an urban area? The art project “Show me the way to public sphere” dares to examine these questions: twenty contemporary artists of international renown create work for the 2006 Wiesbaden Art Summer.
