Heike Mutter und Ulrich Genth

the Metareflector Air Offensive. Expedition to One of the Safest Places in the World

The “research station” installation on the roof of Kunsthalle Recklinghausen is based on a fictitious process, that of the re-examination of the museum, and is also the portrayal of an absurdist discovery process: this is an environment that has been described and defined in great detail. The process is inspired by the methodology of tropical rain forest researchers: from above. This observation is very discreet and involves very little contact to the object; it is however, very laborious. The research aim to find and/or confirm sensory connections and to control the complexity of the situation. At the metaphorical level, Heike Mutter und Ulrich Genth are carrying out a complicated exploration of the world of art from a self-selected distance. In this way, the museum is presented as an unlikely living environment.
