Valérie Favre
Paintings
The painting of Valérie Favre has been surprising critics and the general public for twenty years: developed from a radically subjective vantage point,it is often subject to unexpected transformations. She began her artistic career in Paris in theatre and film, as well as working with performances, video, sculpture and texts. At the end of the 1980s, she made a radical change: when she left Paris for Berlin in 1998, she was viewed as one of the most important artists of her generation in France.
The monograph presents selected series of works by Valérie Favre from recent years as well as here newest works, thus acknowledging her multi-faceted and multi-layered oeuvre. Series of paintings in a range of formats present an exuberant narrative pleasure. At the same time, her work is a painterly treat that is a joy to behold.
