ALTERable EGOs
Theresa Frölich – Adriaan van der Ploeg – Adrian Schoormans
In their large-scale installations and photographic series Theresa Frölich, Adriaan van der Ploeg and Adrian Schoormans examine the issue of their own identity, its construction and changeability, not only in Cyberspace but also in real life. They investigate the secret double lives and undercover identities of virtual avatars, agents and sleepers as well as methods of directed “reprogramming” like the military brainwashing project “MK Ultra”. Like the computer avatar, the human body is also a container for different information that appears to be interchangeable.
This catalogue presents new works by Frölich, van der Ploeg and Schoormans that are being presented in Kunstmuseum Mülheim an der Ruhr in cooperation with the Mülheim art association.
