Ulrich Rückriem
Works in North-Rhine Westphalia
Ulrich Rückriem’s life and work is closely connected to the federal state of North-Rhine Westphalia. After his apprenticeship as a stonemason in Düren, work in the Cologne Cathedral workshop and studies at the Cologne Werkschule, he began to concentrate more and more on site-specific works from the late 1960s.
Over 200 works by Rückriem exist today and this book provides an exemplary selection. This pocket-sized guide locates the sculptural work of Rückriem within the context of Minimal Art and Concept Art while also presenting 54 selected (at times previously unpublished) works by the artist in the richly illustrated main section of the catalogue. A comprehensive index lists all public art works as well as, for the first time, those in private collections in North-Rhine Westphalia.
