Winfried Wolk

Winfried Wolk, painter, illustrator and graphic artist from the GDR, had the opportunity to travel to India and Nepal in the 1980s. Now – looking back after several decades – the artist describes the unexpected pleasure in rediscovering these journeys, his enthusiasm for the discovery of the great, seemingly unlimited world, and his encounter with an unknown and wonderful culture with its, at times, shocking contrasts.
Many years of long-lasting inspiration have resulted in almost 100 drawings, etchings, watercolours and oil paintings, which are presented – as is the artist Winfried Wolk – in this publication.
