Julia Oschatz
Cut and Run
Julia Oschatz opens a new chapter in her encyclopaedic project, “Paralysed Paradise”, with the room installation “Cut and Run”. The central figure of the project is a hybrid, genderless being.
Julia Oschatz helps herself to a huge source of available images and stories for her filmic, painted, drawn or animated scenes. in doing so, she takes up, on the one hand, the theme of nature and landscape, layered over the centuries with manifold metaphors, to combine it with the no less metaphor rich cliché of heroism. cartoons, prints from the middle ages, expedition accounts, adventure films, travel brochures or highlights from art history serve equally as her sources and her locations.
