Dragon-Killer

Just at the Zen archer meditatively fires an arrow into the middle of the target, the artist may also draw his or her painting out of the subconscious of the soul with great accuracy. “Dragon-killer”: a re-interpretation of the myth. Sturm’s monotypes emerge from the normally black ground of the canvas and create an unusual cinematic visual experience for the viewer. The narrative of this artist’s book takes the reader into the nocturnal studio of the painter where the struggle of the angels is evoked in mythical-biblical cycle of paintings.
