Wanderland

Israel — Palestine

This catalogue looks at the unstable social and political situation of Israel and the contentious situation of its borders with regard to its Arab neighbours. This subject is not only investigated by Israeli and Palestinian artists and photographers but also by artists and photographers from other countries. The catalogue juxtaposes internal and external viewpoints of the continuing conflict. Twelve artists from Israel, Palestine and Europe illustrate kaleidoscopic landscapes and life forms, and the conflicts and communication between diverse ethnic groups using photographic and video works. Here there is also an attempt to examine the borders between the documentary and artistic methods of the artists. The ambivalence and tension between artistic commitment and political statements are thus juxtaposed.
