Hermann-Josef Kuhna
The Handel Cycle
This publication is the result of an exciting project: in 2012, Hermann-Josef Kuhna began to engage artistically with the operas of Georg Friedrich Handel. The result is a cycle of 14 abstract pointillist paintings, which visually convey the content and music of the operas. Using nuances of colour, gestures and a rhythmic structure, he produces homages to works such as "Giulio Cesare in Egitto" and "Orlando".
The monograph is edited by Prof. em. David Galloway. In addition to art-historical introductions, it features 14 individual essays containing notes on the paintings and the operas on which they are based.
