Susanne Ring
Tempel
Susanne Ring (b. 1966) creates enigmatic creatures from fired clay. Though recognizable as physical figures through simple features such as a head, arms, and legs, they do not duplicate prototypical patterns. These bodies are not organisms that have grown, but fragile shells that, as the mediating boundaries between the individual and the outside world, have themselves been transformed into figures. However, instead of answering the question as to whether human corporeality is a blessing or a curse, they embody the right to ambivalence and non-identity in the truest sense of the word. The publication Tempel shows current works in ceramics and paper as well as images of exhibitions from the last few years.
