From a distance the observer of Ralf Ziervogel’s drawing Ofu sees only a moving line ornament, but from close up this transpires to be a drawn chain of bodies clinging and tied to one another and falling through space. This drastic and comic-like spectacle of mutual torture can be seen as a criticism of societal fantasies of violence, and also as an expression of pleasurable experimentation with the possibilities of drawing.
