Biography
1957 born in Mönchengladbach 
since 1984 Self-taught artist publication of comics and picture books (e.g. Captain, Bluebear)
1990 to 1997 creates his most famous comic-book characters: the Little Asshole and Adolf, the Nazi Pig
1999 the first of his Zamonia novels Die 13½ Leben des Käpt’n Blaubär [The 13½ Lives of Captain Bluebear] is published. The next in the series are: Ensel und Krete [“Ensel and Krete”, not translated into English], Rumo & Die Wunder im Dunkeln [Rumo and his Miraculous Adventures], Die Stadt der Träumenden Bücher [The City of Dreaming books] and Der Schrecksenmeister [The Alchemaster’s Apprentice]
2001 Moers writes Wilde Reise durch die Nacht [A Wild Ride through the Night] based on engravings by Gustave Doré
2002 the picture book [“The Fing”, not translated into English] is published
in preparation: Das Labyrinth der Träumenden Bücher [“The Labyrinth of Dreaming Books”]
Several awards: Including: Max-und-Moritz Prize for the best German-language comic book (1993), Adolf-Grimme Prize for Käpt’n Blaubärs Seemannsgarn [“Captain Bluebear’s Seaman’s Yarn”] (1994), the Golden Screen award for the film Das Kleine Arschloch [“The Little Asshole] (1997) and Wetzlar Prize for Fantasy for Die Stadt der Träumenden Bücher [“The City of Dreaming Books] (2005).
