Friedrich Meckseper
The paintings, etchings, and collages of Friedrich Meckseper present objects drawn with technical precision that have seemingly nothing to do with one another: gear wheels, coil springs, snail shells or also clocks that develop a mysterious presence. Meckseper’s fascination with the technical is revealed not only in his artistic works, but also in the construction of a steamboat in 1972 and repeated crossings of the Alps with a gas balloon between 1978 and 1986.
This catalogue is being published on the occasion of the 80th birthday of the artist, who was born in Bremen and has been living and working in Berlin since 1984.
