This publication brings together landscape works painted by Christoph Bouet between 2010 and 2013. As an en plein air artist, he paints raw, earthy landscapes directly on location: he uses a palette knife to apply the oil paints directly from the tube in thick layers onto a canvas that is placed on the ground. His animated, relief-like motifs emerge in expressive colours, turning apparently tranquil landscapes into unsettling images that penetrate deep within the viewer’s being.
